Hyperdimension Neptunia review on the way

Dear readers, I have discovered one of the greatest hidden gems I've managed to come across. The worst part about this game is, it's hidden in plain sight; a lot of the more obscure games niche titles that niche gamers are used to hearing about and finding out about through message boards and word of mouth, but this game is out there -- it's pretty popular (owing to the fact that it's a Compile Heart game) and there are a ton of spin off games being released and localized on a pretty regular basis.

I originally snubbed my nose at this game, seeing it on the PS3; the humor was definitely there, but I didn't care at all for the turn-based combat, and when it got re-released on the Vita, and people clamored about how great the improvements were, I just didn't care too much. I love my Vita, but I've been drawn more and more towards my PC as of late, so it took the PC release and a particular lull in my gaming interest for me to stumble upon Hyperdimension Neptunia.

I'm no stranger to the series, as I was going to pick up HDN (Hyperdimension Neptunia) U on the Vita, especially because it came out the same day as The Witcher, which was just something too silly for me to pass up on, but instead, I got the urge to play the original. After looking it up and seeing how good the improvements were (and the fact it was on Steam at all, honestly) were huge factors in getting me to finally swallow my pride and check this game out. It also helps that I've been going through an incredibly difficult time in my life as of late, and something goofy and lighthearted really helps you distract yourself from the world.
